การใช้ There is และ There are

There is, There are
There is แปลว่า "มี" ใช้กับคำนามนับได้เอกพจน์ และคำนามนับไม่ได้
There are แปลว่า"มี" ใช้กับคำนามนับได้พหูพจน์
ยกตัวอย่าง เช่น There is / There are มีความหมายว่า "มี"  ใช้เมื่อต้องการจะบอกว่า "มีอะไรอยู่ที่ไหน"
How many plates are there on the table? (มีจานอยู่บนโต๊ะกี่ใบ)
There is a plate on the table. (มีจานอยู่บนโต๊ะ 1 ใบ)
How many apples are there in the basket? (มีแอ๊ปเปิ้ลอยู่ในตะกร้ากี่ผล)
There is an apple in the basket. (มีแอ๊ปเปิ้ลอยู่ในตะกร้า 1 ผล)
How many cups are there in the  cupboard ? (มีถ้วยอยู่ในตู้กี่ใบ)
There are twelve  cups  in  the  cupboard. (มีถ้วย 12 ใบ อยู่ในตู้)
    1. There is ใช้นำหน้าคำนามเอกพจน์ หรือคำนามนับไม่ได้ เช่น
There is  a bottle of  jam  in the  fridge. (มีแยม 1 ขวดอยู่ในตู้เย็น)
There is an apple in the basket. (มีแอ๊ปเปิ้ลอยู่ในตะกร้า 1 ผล)
There is pepper in the bottle.  (มีพริกไทย อยู่ในขวด)
There is soup in the bowl (มีซุปอยู่ในชาม) 
There is yogurt  in the glass. (มีโยเกิตอยู่ในแก้ว)
2. There are   ใช้นำหน้าคำนามพหูพจน์ เช่น ถ้าเป็นคำนามนับไม่ได้นำคำนามนั้นมาใส่ภาชนะ
     หรือสิ่งที่บรรจุอยู่เสมอ เช่น
There are two  mangoes   in the  fridge. (มีมะม่วง 2 ผลอยู่ในตู้เย็น)
There are  three cans of coke in the fridge. (มีโค้ก 3 กระป๋องในตู้เย็น)
There are  four cherries  in the fridge . (มีเชอรี่ 4 ผลอยู่ในตู้เย็น)
There are three jars  of  jam  in  the fridge . (มีแยม 3 ขวดโหลอยู่ในตู้เย็น)
There are  two kilos of pork  in the fridge . (มีหมู 2 กิโลอยู่ในตู้เย็น)
